Aunt Barbara’s Broccoli Deliciousness

While I was home for Thanksgiving in Colorado, my mom made this divine broccoli-Bacon Salad. At first, I was unsure about some of the ingredients in the dressing- but it was so good when it came together…like a perfectly wrapped present.  Not only is this salad great for the holidays because of the beautiful color in its presentation, but it could be used as a side dish to any meal, anytime. You could even add different fruits/veggies to personalize it- the dressing goes with just about anything. I might try adding some mandarin oranges next time, mmmm that could be tasty.

Here is the recipe. (Don’t mind the spelling errors. ha!)


Get a big bowl. Add your Broccoli. Make sure it’s clean and cut into bite-size pieces. Add 1/2 cup of Cranberries. I added cranberries instead of Raisins and I raised the amount to 1/2 Cup because I like the sweetness…



Add your onions.



Add your shredded cheese. ohhhh lots of cheese! I love it.



Add the sunflower seeds. Usually, I’m not a nut or seed fan. But these are really yummy in this dish.



Chop your bacon. (Try not to eat it all while you’re chopping like I do)



Add the bacon… I always add extra bacon. C’mon, it’s bacon. Everything is better with bacon.



Make the dressing. It’s a lot of mayo, vinegar and sugar but it’s sooooo good. It’s tart and sweet and fabulous.



Mix it until it’s smooth and then lather it alllllll over the other ingredients.



Stir it up. Like the Bob Marley song…
